Commonly known as a ‘press’ in general, a hydraulic press is a common forming press that works based on pressure application and is excessively used for changing any primary shape of any workpiece which requires generating pretty amounts of the workforce and is done by the usage of a hydraulic cylinder as the key component for that. Since its birth, it is known as the ‘Bramah press’ to the commoners. It was invented by Joseph Bramah in England and it uses a mechanical lever for power transmission. The main working principle of a hydraulic press is heavily dependent on Pascal’s Law and it works on Pascal’s principle where any pressure is constant throughout the entire system which is closed. As a common part of the system, the piston a very pivotal role in the entire operation. It acts as a pump that applies a mechanical force that is modest and it acts on a comparatively small area of the entire cross-section. Through the application of a small effort, the required amount of pressure is exerted and in turn, the hydraulic fluid further transmits greater force on the other larger piston.
Various applications such as Punching, Deep Drawing, Moulding, Forging, Clinching, Blanking, and metal forming operations use the hydraulic press. The field of the manufacturing industry considers the hydraulic press to be its added hand. It processes the quality of being invincible in economical aspects and empowers this industry to create more and more complex shapes. In comparison to its competitor which are the mechanical presses of equivalent output quality, these hydraulic presses consume invincibly lesser physical space. These hydraulic press have become a mandatory part of the never-ceasing to growing automotive industry. It is also one of the main components of a hydraulic power pack assembled with a hydraulic cylinder.
